Best Samsung Galaxy laptops in 2023

Samsung may be known for its phones, but the company also makes some great laptops under the Galaxy brand. Here are the best ones.

Samsung is widely known for being one of the most popular Android smartphone makers in the world. There’s a chance you’ve heard of products like the Galaxy Z Flip 4, for example. But the company has made some very interesting Windows laptops, too. In 2023, we now have the brand-new Galaxy Book 3 series, which is quite a bit different since it has a device for every need. Big laptops, convertible laptops, you name it, and Samsung has it. At this point, Samsung has a really strong lineup of laptops for different kinds of users, and you may have a hard time choosing the right one for you. So, we’re here to help with that, and we’ve rounded up the best laptops in Samsung’s lineup, tailored to a few different categories. Let’s dive right in.

The best Samsung laptops in 2023

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Best overall

A great laptop for most users

$1264 $1450 Save $186

If you need a true premium laptop from Samsung, then the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is for you. This is like the MacBooks of Samsung laptops featuring an all-aluminum chassis, 13th-generation Intel CPUS, and a 120Hz OLED display.

  • 13th-generation Intel processors are plenty fast
  • Stunning 16:10 OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate
  • Great selection of ports

  • A little heavier than we’d like
  • No Windows Hello facial recognition

$1450 at Samsung $1449 at Amazon $1264 at Best Buy (14 inches)

Of course, we have to start the list off with the latest and greatest from Samsung, and the Galaxy Book 3 Pro is not only the company’s best laptop but one of the best laptops in general.

For starters, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is powered by 13th-generation Intel Core processors, specifically a Core i7-1360P, which delivers a mild performance improvement over its predecessor, in addition to including Intel Iris Xe graphics. Last year’s processor was already plenty fast, so this year’s is great, too, and with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, you’re all set to have a great experience.

There are two models of the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro based on the display size, one being a 14-inch panel and the other a 16-inch one. Aside from the size, however, the specs are the same, including a new 16:10 aspect ratio that’s great for productivity. You get a 3K (2880×1800) resolution Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which looks absolutely stunning. It’s sharp, colorful, and smooth, thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate. This is one of the biggest upgrades Samsung made compared to the Galaxy Book 2 Pro. Meanwhile, the webcam is about the same, a 1080p sensor without Windows Hello support (though there is a fingerprint reader).

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro also comes with a new chassis made entirely of aluminum, which feels much more premium that the magnesium used in the previous model. However, that also means it’s heavier, with the 14-inch model weighing 2.54 pounds, while the 16-inch version weighs 3.44 pounds. The port selection is great, too, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB Type-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader.

With so much on offer, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is very easy to recommend to almost anyone.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 Best convertible

Just as great, but more versatile

$800 $1000 Save $200

The Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is a more versatile laptop from Samsung. It’s a convertible, but it still has a fantastic OLED display. It only comes in a 16-inch model, though, but it supports the SPen.

  • Same fast processors and specs as the Galaxy Book 3 Pro
  • Stunning OLED display, now with touch and S Pen support
  • Convertible form factor gives you more versatility

  • It’s pretty expensive
  • It only comes in a heavy 16-inch model

$800 at Samsung $1500 at Best Buy $2000 at Newegg

What if a clamshell laptop is boring to you? The versatility of a convertible has some undeniable appeal, and the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is pretty much a convertible version of the model above.

The performance is pretty much the same, featuring an Intel Core i7-1360P processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. This is an excellent combination for day-to-day use, and Samsung doesn’t really give you any configuration options, so you can’t make bad decisions, such as getting 8GB of RAM.

The display is also nearly identical, but the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 only comes in a 16-inch model, meaning there’s no 14-inch version. It uses the same beautiful 2.8K Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, so the visual experience is phenomenal in basically every way. Of course, because it’s a convertible, the display also supports touch input as well as the S Pen, which is included with the laptop. This means you can doodle and take handwritten notes to your heart’s content.

Being a 16-inch convertible made of aluminum means the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 is fairly heavy, coming in at 3.7 pounds. It’s just 12.8mm thick, though, which is still impressively thin for a laptop. Finally, the ports are also all the same as the clamshell model: two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. There will also be a nano SIM card slot in the 5G model when that launches, but it’s not available yet.

If you want a top-of-the-line convertible laptop with great specs, a beautiful display, and a premium design, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360. However, the $1,900 price tag may be a little hard to stomach.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra Best for creators

A lot of power in a sleek chassis

$2000 $2400 Save $400

The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is the most powerful Samsung laptop you can buy. It sports up to 13th-generation Intel Core H-series processors and up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics.

  • 13th-gen Intel H-series processors and Nvidia RTX graphics can handle demanding creative workloads
  • The same stunning OLED display as the Galaxy Book 3 Pro
  • Decently thin and light for the specs

  • Very expensive
  • Still no Windows Hello facial recognition at this price

$2000 at Samsung $2000 at Best Buy $2700 at Newegg

If you love the Galaxy Book 3 Pro but you need more power, Samsung has you covered with the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. This model packs more powerful processors and Nvidia graphics while keeping what makes the Galaxy Book 3 series great.

It’s all about that performance, and Samsung delivers with 13th-generation Intel Core H-series processors, up to a Core i9-13900H, with 14 cores and speeds up to 5.4GHz. For more demanding graphics workloads, you get either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 or RTX 4070 laptop GPU. It won’t be on par with a gaming laptop, but this should greatly help with 3D rendering in design apps or video editing. All of this is backed up by up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The laptop also has one free expansion slot for an extra SSD if you need more storage.

In terms of the display, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is the same as the 16-inch Galaxy Book 3 Pro, but that’s because that model already has a phenomenal display. Indeed, the 3K AMOLED panel looks absolutely stunning with the 120Hz refresh rate, and you might even be able to use it for some gaming thanks to the Nvidia GPUs.

The extra horsepower means the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has to be thicker and heavier, but it’s still pretty svelte considering the specs. It’s 16.5mm thick and it weighs 3.9 pounds, which is very reasonable for a powerful laptop like this. Another difference is that this model is only available in the Graphite colorway, so there’s no Beige option. The port setup is basically the same, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB Type-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. Plus, this model has a faster HDMI 2.0 port instead of HDMI 1.4, so it supports 4K monitors at 60Hz.

All this power in such a premium package comes at a cost, as the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is pretty expensive. But if you need extra performance, it’s a fantastic laptop.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 Best lightweight convertible

A capable laptop with a smaller screen

$1500 $1900 Save $400

Need a Windows convertible from Samsung that’s more lightweight? That’s what the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 is. It still has great performance in a slim package, and it’s about 2.5 pounds in weight when you consider the 13-inch model.

  • It packs the same high-end processors as the Pro model
  • AMOLED display is still great for watching movies
  • 13-inch model weighs a little over 2.5 pounds

  • Some may not like the more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Only one color available

$1250 at Samsung $1250 at Best Buy (13 inches) $1500 at Best Buy (15.6 inches) $1255 at Newegg

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is a fantastic laptop, but it is very expensive without many configuration options to make it a bit more affordable. If that’s what you want, though, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 is for you.

At the heart of the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 is a 13th-generation Intel Core i7-1360P, which is the same as the Pro model. That means you’re getting the same great performance, and with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, you’re set to have a great experience for a much lower price.

The biggest difference between this and the Pro models is the display, which has a more conventional 16:9 aspect ratio, and it comes in Full HD resolution (1920×1080). There are two size options, being 13.3 inches and 15.6 inches, but the specs are the same. While it’s not as sharp as the Pro version, it’s still a great viewing experience thanks to the AMOLED panel, and the lower resolution display may end up saving some battery life. It also has a more standard 60Hz refresh rate. And of course, the webcam above that display is a 1080p camera without Windows Hello facial recognition.

If you’re buying a laptop for portability, the 13.3-inch model comes in at just 2.58 pounds, so it’s very easy to carry around, especially compared to the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360. Ports are also very similar to the more expensive Pro models. You get two USB Type-C ports — except in this case only one of them supports Thunderbolt 4 — USB Type-A, HDMI, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. This still gives you pretty much all the same connectivity options, even if you miss out on one Thunderbolt 4 port, and it’s a great setup.

All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 360 is still a great laptop, and it’s noticeably cheaper than the Pro equivalent.

Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro Best lightweight clamshell laptop

Fantastic for portability

$660 $1099 Save $439

On a smaller budget and don’t mind older specs? The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is still a great laptop. It’s an older model but it still has efficient 12th-generation Intel CPUs, and a great AMOLED display.

  • Extremely lightweight at under 2 pounds
  • Full HD AMOLED display is still great for most users
  • It already has a 1080p webcam

  • It doesn’t have the latest processors (though it’s not a huge difference)
  • Build quality isn’t quite as sturdy as the newer models

$660 at Samsung $1099 at Amazon

Since Samsung switched to aluminum with its latest laptops, they’re not the best in terms of being lightweight, but last year’s Galaxy Book 2 Pro is still available and still fantastic.

Starting with performance, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is powered by Intel’s 12th-generation processors, up to a Core i7-1260P. It’s only slightly slower than the 13th-generation models, so you’re not missing out on a ton of performance. It also comes with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage for the 13-inch model, or up to 16GB of RAM for the 15-inch version.

While it’s not as impressive as the new models, the Galaxy Book 2 Pro still has a great display, especially in the smaller 13-inch size. Both models have an AMOLED panel, producing true blacks and vibrant colors, and the resolution is Full HD (1920 x 1080). That’s still sharp enough for the majority of users. The webcam is a 1080p sensor, so it’s similar to the newer versions.

Because this laptop is made of magnesium instead of aluminum, it’s far lighter than the new models for 2023. The 13-inch Galaxy Book 2 Pro weighs a mere 1.92 pounds, so it’s incredibly easy to carry around, and even the 15.6-inch version weighs just 2.45 pounds. Despite that, you still get a lot of ports, including Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), a regular USB-C port, USB Type-A, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. If you get the 15.6-inch model, there’s also an HDMI port, which is very welcome. Some markets have a 5G-enabled version of the 15-inch model, though that’s not the case in the US.

If you want the cream of the crop when it comes to thin and light laptops, the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro should definitely be on your radar.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Best 15-inch clamshell

A cheaper option with a 16:9 aspect ratio

$750 $1000 Save $250

The Galaxy Book 3 is your average laptop. It has a standard FHD display, but it also has a lower price tag and a 15-inch display. These will be cuts for that lower price.

  • 13th-gen Intel processors deliver strong performance
  • Optional Intel Arc graphics for more demanding workloads
  • Cheaper than the rest of the lineup

  • 720p webcam
  • Full HD resolution isn’t ideal for a 15-inch laptop

$800 at Samsung $800 at Best Buy $750 at Amazon

If you’re looking for a more affordable option and you don’t need all the bells and whistles of a convertible, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 is a relatively new addition to the lineup and it may be ideal for you.

Like the rest of the 2023 lineup, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 comes with 13th-generation Intel processors, with options for either an Intel Core i7-1355U or a Core i7-1360P. The former is better for battery life, which makes this a great option if you want a laptop that lasts longer on a charge. If you get the Core i7-1360P, you also get Intel Arc A350M graphics, so you have a bit more horsepower for workloads like video editing or even some light gaming. In either case, you’re also getting 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 comes with a 15.6-inch AMOLED panel, and it has a typical 16:9 aspect ratio. The resolution is Full HD, so it’s definitely not on the same level as the more expensive Pro models, but it’s still good enough for most users. What’s more unfortunate is the webcam, which is still using a 720p sensor without facial recognition.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 actually stands out a bit from the rest of the lineup since it comes in a silver colorway, which isn’t available for any of the other laptops we’ve seen so far. Silver is definitely very common for laptops in general, but not so much with Samsung, so this may be interesting to you. At 3.53 pounds, however, it’s not super light. The laptop does miss out on Thunderbolt support, but you get two USB-C ports, USB Type-A, HDMI, and a microSD card reader, so overall, there’s a solid selection here.

While it’s not the fanciest device in Samsung’s lineup, the Galaxy Book 3 covers all the basics to offer a great experience for most users.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 Best Chromebook

A stunning and capable ChromeOS laptop

$450 $550 Save $100

Need a solid Chromebook? Check out the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2. It’s a great Chromebook with a color-accurate QLED display, and great everyday performance for web browsing and more.

  • Stunning looks in Fiesta Red
  • Capable processors for basic use
  • Solid QLED display

  • The processors are starting to age
  • Not many ports

$590 at Amazon $700 at Best Buy $450 at Samsung

Samsung hasn’t made a lot of high-end Chromebooks in the past couple of years, and as a result, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is still likely the best option if you’re looking for a premium-feeling Chromebook with solid performance.

On that note, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 is powered by up to an Intel Core i3-10110U, a dual-core, four-thread CPU that can boost up to 4.1GHz. It’s not quite on par with Samsung’s best Windows laptops, but it’s solid for a lightweight operating system like ChromeOS. Additionally, it comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB eMMC storage, which is all you need for a solid experience all around.

Turning to the display, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 comes with a 13.3-inch panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and the resolution is Full HD (1920×1080), so the viewing experience should be pretty good for the most part. It’s using a QLED panel from Samsung to deliver a solid experience, though it’s not quite on the level of AMOLED. Of course, it’s a convertible, so it supports touch and pen input. Above the display, there’s a 1MP camera, which supports 720p video.

One of the best things about this laptop is the design, particularly thanks to the Fiesta Red colorway that really stands out from the crowd. There is a gray model if you want something more subdued, though. The Galaxy Chromebook 2 comes in at 2.71 pounds, and it’s just 13.9mm thin, so it’s fairly portable for an aluminum laptop. This thin design means there’s only space for two USB Type-C ports, a microSD card reader, and a headphone jack, so the port selection isn’t fantastic.

Since it’s a couple of years old, you can often find the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 with a nice discount, which makes it that much easier to buy one. It’s still a great choice despite its age.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 Great Chromebook alternative

Sharper display with a taller format

$322 $430 Save $108

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 has a unique 12.4-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and sharp Quad HD resolution, along with a nice design and basic entry-level specs.

  • Quad HD+ display with 16:10 aspect ratio
  • Dual-tone black and silver design
  • Good enough for younger students

  • Performance won’t blow your mind
  • Smaller 12.4-inch display may not be for everyone

$322 at Samsung $449 at Best Buy

Despite the confusing name, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is actually not part of the same direct family as the model above, and indeed, both models are convertibles. Instead, this is a more budget-oriented offering that’s slightly more recent but cuts some corners to get to the lower price point.

For starters, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is powered by an Intel Celeron N4500 processor, an entry-level dual-core processor. This isn’t going to give you the most amazing experience, but if you have very basic use cases, this should still be good enough. You also get 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of eMMC storage rounding out the base specs.

The display is one of the highlights of this model, though. This is a relatively small 12.4-inch panel, which makes this an easier laptop to handle for a younger child, but it comes in a tall 16:10 aspect ratio, and the resolution is a very sharp Quad HD+ (2560 x 1600). Of course, this is also a convertible, so touch support is included, but there’s no pen support. Atop the display is another 720p webcam.

There isn’t as much of a focus on design with this one, but it’s still a nice-looking laptop, mixing a silver outer shell with a black interior for an interesting dual-tone look. At 2.82 pounds, it’s decently light, though not impressively so considering its size. Coming around to the ports, the setup is basic but solid. You get two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot, which covers most of your needs. There isn’t HDMI, but it’s unlikely you’d want to use this laptop with a second screen anyway.

If you’re looking for a budget-oriented Chromebook, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is a very good option, especially considering the display and the overall portability.

Best Samsung Galaxy laptops in 2023: The bottom line

Those are some of the best laptops you can get from Samsung today. Our top recommendation definitely goes to the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro, which is an absolutely fantastic laptop. It has powerful processors, a stunning 3K AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and a premium aluminum design. The only real downside with it is that it lacks Windows Hello facial recognition, but to be fair, not everyone needs it. It’s a terrific laptop through and through, and an easy recommendation for almost anyone.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro Best overall$1264 $1450 Save $186

The Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro is a true premium laptop, with an all-aluminum chassis that’s surprisingly thin and powerful 13th-gen Intel processors. Plus, it has a stunning OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

If you want something cheaper, the closest we can get to a budget laptop is the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook2, which is still a great machine in a few ways. If your usage is mostly reliant on the web, ChromeOS can likely meet all of your needs, and the Galaxy Chromebook2 looks stunning, so it’s easy to recommend. If you do want to stick with Windows, the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 is also a solid choice, but it is a bit too pricy to be considered a budget pick.
