Essentials
- Google has launched Duet AI, an AI pilot that integrates all of Google Workspace’s features, enabling things like creating visuals and creating personalized emails.
- Duet AI offers additional features to Google Meet, such as studio-like audio and lighting, automatic translation, real-time texting, and AI-generated meeting summaries.
- Google Chat also benefits from the integration of Duet AI, providing a chatbot for content-based questions and improvements in search functionality, features, and support for large groups.
Microsoft has been making waves in Artificial Intelligence (AI) lately thanks to new services and tools like Bing Chat, Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT. Interest is growing in this area, it is natural to see big tech companies investing in this area to attract more customers by attracting them with technological advancements. Now, Google has announced integration between its Duet AI products and Google Workspace across the board.
Duet AI is now live and available to customers who are willing to pay for Google Workspace. The AI assistant has been tested by many business customers since May and is now ready for the big time. There are several ways that Duet AI supports workflow across all Workspace applications. For example, it can use the contents of your Drive, Gmail, and Docs to create a presentation in Slides decorated with full text, images, tables, and other images with the help of simple words like “Make a summary of Q3’s performance”. Similarly, intelligent responses in Gmail are being added via Duet AI where you can send longer emails generated by AI.
The AI assistant is also tightly integrated with Google Meet. Clients who use the web-based interactive software can use Duet AI for studio-like sound, lighting, and visual effects. The AI model will also help remote workers by allowing them to see all attendees in a physical meeting room through facial recognition technology and dynamic tiles. In addition, it will have automatic translation capabilities and support 18 languages using real-time.
That’s not all that’s changed when it comes to Meet. Duet AI will be able to record notes and events in real-time during a web conference and will also provide video clips of important events. For latecomers, it will provide a summary of the meeting so far so they can get up to speed without interrupting the flow of the discussion. Another great feature is that it allows Duet AI to join the meeting on your behalf to let other attendees know that you won’t be joining and so you can use the AI-generated summary.
There are also many additional features on Google Chat. Duet AI is now available as a chat in this Workspace section so you can ask questions about your content, get a summary, and catch up on the latest conversations you might have missed. Google is also working on ways to use apps without using code directly in Chat, with the help of Duet AI in AppSheet.
Chat is getting a lot of changes outside of Duet AI integration as well. This includes better functionality, a refreshed interface based on the Material 3 design language, stacks, and support for up to 500,000 members in Spaces – ten times more than what was offered from earlier this year.
All of this doesn’t come cheap though. Duet AI in Google Workspace will cost business customers $30/user/month, and Price CNBC the report on the cost of small groups would still be discussed. In the meantime, you can request a free Google trial by filling out the form here.
