Before downloading

Before we start, the first thing you need to do is to make sure that your PC meets the requirements of Windows 11. How to install Windows 11 using a USB drive

If, instead of upgrading, you want to install or install your PC, you need to create a bootable USB drive. You can do this directly using the Media Creation Tool, or use the ISO you downloaded using the methods above and a program like Rufus. This method allows you to install Windows 11 on unused hardware.

How to create a media installation

If you want to create a USB flash drive that you can use on other PCs or a clean install, you’ll need a program like Rufus. Actually installing Windows 11 is a very easy process. Once you’ve created the backup, you can simply load the setup file into your flash drive, then click the install option. After the installation, you will be running Windows 11. If you want to do this, it is very similar to having an ISO file.

However, if you want a clean experience and set up your Windows 11 PC as a new machine, you can install it well. This means removing everything from your car, but it will allow you to have a clean experience. Make sure you have backed up all the data you need before you start. With your USB device connected, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings -> Settings & Security -> Recovery.
  2. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.

  8. On the next screen, you should select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
  9. You will see a list of drives and partitions on your PC. If it’s a new SSD, you may only see one partition or unallocated space.
  10. If you have, delete all existing partitions on Drive 0. You will have one block of unallocated space as shown above.

    This will erase all data from your drive. Make sure you have already contributed.

  11. Select an unallocated space on your drive and click Next.

Once the installation is complete, you will be taken to the external environment (OOBE). This is what you see when you set up a new PC for the first time, or after upgrading it.

Creating Windows 11

To get ready to use Windows 11, you need to go through several steps. Here is the full process:

  3. You will then be asked to sign in with a Microsoft account. If you used Rufus to create an ISO with default settings, you can skip this step, but it’s usually acceptable.
  4. When you sign in, you can set up Windows Hello for face or fingerprint recognition on supported devices. You also need to set a PIN.
  5. If you already backed up your data on another device, you will have the opportunity to restore the backup. Choose a previous device or start as a new device.
  6. Next, you have a few privacy settings to go through. This includes allowing apps to use your location, the amount of data you want to send to Microsoft, or whether apps can use your ID for advertising. Select the settings that apply to you, then click Next.
