Active areas are a key feature of Blink security cameras, as they allow you to choose which areas of your property you want to record. This means you can use active areas to exclude areas that might trigger false notifications, such as a busy public sidewalk or a road with heavy traffic in front of your home.

Step 3: Here, you will see a screenshot of what the camera is recording. If the image looks old, press Update photos button to refresh it.
Step 4: You should see a grid covering the length of the image. Clicking on a square in the grid will turn it into an inactive activity area – meaning no motion will be detected in that area.
Step 5: Depending on your camera, you may be able to zoom in to the image to access a smaller grid. This allows you to establish more precise areas of activity.
Step 6: After clicking on the area you want the camera to ignore, select complete.
Step 7: Any actions in the blocks you deactivate will be ignored. All remaining squares are considered your active area.
Step 8: If you want to delete all changes and start from scratch, you can choose Reset area The button activates all blocks on the grid.
Step 9: It takes some trial and error to get your living area to work perfectly for your property. Consider making small changes to your settings every 24 hours until you perfect its layout.
