LG Gram Style vs. HP Specter x360: Price, specifications & availability

Currently, the LG Gram Style is available on various websites, including Amazon, Best Buy, and LG’s website. There are two models of LG Gram Style: one is 14-inch and one is 16-inch. In comparison to the HP Specter x360, we will be looking at the 14-inch, while we are talking about the HP Specter x360 13.5-inch option (it also has a 16-inch version). It starts around $1,500.

The Specter also costs more, starting at $1,400, but there’s a great sale at HP right now that starts at just $900. It’s also available at major retailers, as you can find it for $950 at Best Buy on sale right now. The OLED version of the laptop is also heavily discounted at Best Buy, down to $1,250 from $1,750.

LG Gram Style vs. HP Specter x360: Design

In terms of design, the LG Gram Style is one of the most stylish laptops you can find. It’s pretty, it’s pretty, it’s pretty, and it’s got some pretty cool features that we’ll see later. The laptop has a beautiful shade of white called Dynamic White that really pops. A smooth glass exterior opens up to a single glass interior that covers the touchpad. It has light lines on the side of the touchpad, so you know where it is. But, because of its seamless design, you can’t click it, so it may take a while to adjust.

If you’re looking at the HP Specter x360, it’s similar to the 2022 model in terms of color. It comes in Natural silver, Nocturne blue, and Nightfall black. It has accurate touchpad support and, being a 2-in-1 laptop, comes with an HP stylus. The versatility of this 2-in-1 laptop converts from a laptop to a tablet. It’s also a sharper laptop by comparison, but the touchpad and keyboard don’t integrate the way the Gram Style does.

If you’re looking for the best lightweight laptops, you’ve found two great ones. The Gram Style weighs just 2.2 pounds, mostly because it’s made of glass. But because of that, you have to make sure that you are careful while handling it. It’s not the most rugged laptop you’ll find. The Specter x360 is just over 3 pounds, so it doesn’t weigh much on its own (although the larger model doesn’t pack). It is made from aluminum and plastic, so it is more difficult than the Style.

For ports and connectivity, you’re getting two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A port, a MicroSD card reader, and a headphone jack on the LG Gram Style and HP Specter x360. Both offer Intel Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth connectivity. But the Specter x360 offers Bluetooth 5.3 while the Gram Style offers 5.1. It’s just a standard switch that allows for things like consistent speed and fast connection. We should also note that the Specter x360 has quad Bang & Olufsen speakers while the Gram Style only has two stereo speakers, so the audio quality is better with a 2-in-1.

Show it

As we said, this LG Gram Style is good to look at. The display is impressive, but so is the OLED display, which has a 2.8K (2880×1800) resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate. If you want to get the best display, the 16-inch has a 3.2K (3200×2000) panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It provides a sharp and clear image that makes work easier. It also provides 400 lumens, which should be the brightest in the house.

The Specter x360 has a long display of 13.5-inch multitouch with an aspect ratio of 3: 2 (1920×1280), and provides a brightness of 400. The solid aspect ratio gives you added height, so you can enjoy the screen more. You can upgrade to one with 1,000 nits of brightness and a similar display, or you can go bigger and grab one with a 3.2K OLED panel that boasts 400 nits of brightness. Unfortunately, you’ll only get a 60Hz refresh rate, so animations won’t look as smooth.

For webcams, the Specter x360 has a 5MP IR camera, which is one of the best options you’ll find on any laptop today. It has blocking and temporary noise reduction capabilities, so the mics understand when something behind you is making a noise and lowers the ambient noise. This makes it perfect for video phones to work on, allowing your image to stand out to people on the other end. Gram Style offers you a FHD IR 1080p webcam, which is good in most situations but not so good in low light. Both offer Windows Hello face recognition, giving you extra security.

Procedure

The LG Gram Style has one processor option, but it’s a good one. You will get a 13th generation Intel Core i7-1360P processor with 12 cores and 16 threads. P-series processors are designed for heavy duty and can handle many tasks efficiently while still performing at the desired speed. The i7-1360P can be clocked up to 5GHz, and features Intel Iris Xe graphics. For browsing the Internet and doing light tasks, the processor performs well. But by adding external monitors or drivers, and asking the processor to do more, the computer slows down. This is because the laptop gets very hot, because the oil cooling is bad. So even though it has a powerful, 13th generation processor, it falters when you ask for more.

The HP Specter x360 offers several configurations when it comes to CPUs. The biggest change from last year’s model is the updated processors: U-generation 13 processors. The base model offers an Intel i5-1335U processor with 10 cores and 12 threads. You can upgrade to an Intel i7-1355U processor with with 10 cores and 12 threads, depending on how much memory you have. U-Series processors are generally more powerful, but slow down when forced to do heavy work or play games. The thermals of the 2022 model have been updated, and HP has retained this feature here, as it has dual fans that promote faster cooling.

Memory and storage, the base model of the LG Gram Style starts with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, but can go up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. You’ll get 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in the HP Specter x360 base model, but you can upgrade it to 32GB and 2TB of storage.

The Gram model runs Windows 11 Home, and the Specter x360 offers that, as well as Windows 11 Pro as an operating system configuration.

Battery life

All the good things about the LG Gram Style, the display, the P-series processor, and the refresh rate, take a bit of a toll on battery life. The 72Wh battery holds up well, but if you’re looking for all-day battery life, you probably won’t get it here. We’ve found that you’ll get about four to four and a half hours, depending on your light selection and usage, on a single charge.

The HP Specter x360 has a 66Wh battery, but with an underpowered processor, it lasts a long time. It also has an OLED display, which consumes battery. Last year’s model, with a 12th generation Intel U-series CPU, got 6+ hours on a single charge. We expect the same for this one.

LG Gram Style vs. HP Specter x360: Which one is right for you?

Both of these laptops offer tons in terms of high-end systems that boast 13th generation Intel processors. The LG Gram Style is a beautiful laptop to look at, and the OLED display is amazing. The HP Specter x360 is a customizable, 2-in-1 multitasking laptop, and has a 5MP webcam. For all intents and purposes, the HP Specter x360 is our pick. Although the processor may not be as good as the LG Gram Style’s, and the default features are rare, the therms are better, so they don’t slow down too much. It also has solid battery life, can be upgraded to 2TB of storage, and you can choose to upgrade to an OLED display.
