There are many differences between the two, but one thing they have in common is that they both have excellent OLED displays. They also have the same prices. Which of the two is worth your money? That’s what this comparison will help you decide.

LG Gram SuperSlim (2023) vs. Dell XPS 15 (2023): Price, features, and availability

LG Gram SuperSlim is a 15.6-inch lightweight ultrabook. The base model has an Intel Core i7-1360P, Iris Xe Integrated Graphics, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, and a 512 GB SSD. The content remains the same at higher settings, but you can upgrade the memory and storage.

On the front end, the Dell XPS 15 offers a lot of options when it comes to specifications. The lowest model comes with an i7-13700H, an Intel Arc A370M GPU, 16 GB of DDR5 memory, and a 512 GB SSD. Prices for the entry-level models start at $1300 – cheaper than the LG Gram SuperSlim. You can get a better CPU, GPU, and display by paying more. High-end variants can cost up to $3800.

If we compare the cheaper versions of both laptops, the Dell XPS 15 takes the win. It offers a slightly better CPU and dedicated GPU at a much cheaper price. Then again, it’s heavier and bulkier than the Gram SuperSlim.

Design: The portability of the LG Gram SuperSlim is hard to beat

Although the XPS 15 and LG Gram SuperSlim are 15-inch laptops, they couldn’t be more different in feel and finish. One is a powerhouse, while the other is generic, meaningless.

The Dell XPS 15 has a platinum silver exterior and a black interior decorated with carbon fiber. The design looks amazing and impressive. The carbon fiber finish is a bold choice, but it works well with the laptop’s aesthetic. Previous models also came in arctic white, but that option is gone this year.

On the other hand, the LG Gram SuperSlim features a magnesium-alloy chassis. The build is better than your typical plastic laptop, but the finish is definitely inferior compared to the XPS 15. Fortunately, LG’s Gram lineup is proven to be very durable despite the lightweight chassis.

These lightweight properties give the Gram SuperSlim an advantage in terms of thickness and length. It is only 0.43 inches and weighs 2.18 lbs. That’s a full two pounds lighter than the XPS 15, which weighs 4.2 lbs.

Unfortunately, for the LG SuperSlim there are no more models, either. You just get a black finish that looks great. But, it’s always good to have more options. This ultra-thin pen would look great in a black or white finish.

Design wise, it’s hard to decide between the two. The XPS 15 has a better build, more ports, and better colors. However, the LG Gram SuperSlim is a 15-inch laptop that can carry as much as most 13-inch laptops.

Display: OLED Battle

The display is one of the most important aspects of buying a laptop, especially at this price. Both the XPS 15 and SuperSlim have similar OLED displays, but there are some big differences between the two.

The Dell XPS 15 offers two display options: a 1920×1200 IPS panel and a 3.5K OLED Display. The price difference between the two is $300. If you buy the XPS 15, we recommend the OLED Display as it leaps ahead of the FHD+ category in terms of enjoyment. The OLED panel also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making this one of the best laptops for editing photos and videos.

Although the LG Gram SuperSlim also has a large OLED display, it loses in sharpness and quality. It uses a traditional 16:9 panel instead of the 16:10 that has become standard on most laptops at this price point. This also means that it has a resolution of 1920 × 1080, which is the same as the FHD + panel seen on the base models of the XPS 15.

Although the LG Gram SuperSlim covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color range, the XPS 15 takes an easy win here. The 16:10 aspect ratio makes it perfect for production, and you’ll appreciate the high resolution over time. Finally, the LG Gram SuperSlim does not offer a 4K panel.

Performance: Dedicated graphics give the XPS 15 an edge

If we’re talking about specs on paper, the Dell XPS 15 has a lead over the LG Gram SuperSlim. First, it has a slightly better CPU with more cores and a faster clock speed. Secondly, it comes with a dedicated GPU. The LG Gram SuperSlim only has integrated graphics.

The Dell XPS 15 has two processor options: Core i7-13700H and Core i9-13900H. The performance difference between the two is not that great, but, the price difference is huge – $500 to be exact. If you care about better performance, go with the Core i9 13900H. However, keep in mind that maintaining thermals on the road is more difficult than a Core i7 device.

On the other hand, the LG Gram SuperSlim features a Core i7 i7-1360P. It’s the only option you’ll find here, and it’s significantly slower than the Core i7-13700H since it has fewer cores and a lower clock speed. While it should be enough for most people, the XPS 15 is better suited for more demanding tasks.

Then again, the processor difference between the two isn’t bad. If you only care about daily tasks and a little photo/video editing, the LG Gram SuperSlim is equipped to handle it all. Unfortunately, performance becomes the SuperSlim’s biggest losing battle when you talk about GPUs.

The Dell XPS 15 offers four GPU options: Intel Arc A370M, and Nvidia’s RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 graphics cards. The LG Gram SuperSlim has Intel Iris Xe graphics, and that’s the only option available. Even if we’re comparing base models, the XPS 15 wins in the GPU department. If you care about gaming or your work requires display power, the XPS 15 is the way to go.

Battery life: Neck and neck

The LG Gram SuperSlim has a 60 Wh battery and it gave us eight hours of battery life in our in-depth review. In our video playback test, the LG Gram SuperSlim lasted 11 hours and 9 minutes, although in real use, we saw anywhere between 4 hours and 36 minutes and more than 8 hours. Not bad at all for a laptop this thin and light with an OLED display. .

On the other hand, the Dell XPS 15 has a larger 86 Wh battery. While this should translate to better battery life, the XPS 15 has a more powerful CPU and GPU combination. In our testing, the XPS 15 gave us about seven and a half hours of battery life. Considering all the power you get with this laptop, the battery life is pretty good.

Therefore, the LG Gram SuperSlim wins a little here, but the XPS 15 does not lag behind. If you don’t care about performance and just want good battery life, get the SuperSlim. However, considering the capabilities of the XPS 15, the battery life is good there.

The XPS 15 is the better value

Although the LG Gram SuperSlim is a great portable laptop, it is too expensive for what it offers. This is immediately apparent when you compare it to the XPS 15. The Dell laptop has a better design, a sharper screen, and most importantly, better performance. It can handle anything you throw at it, and having dedicated graphics makes it even better.
