Nvidia’s RTX 4070 could get a price cut following the launch of the Radeon RX 7800 XT

Will the lower price be enough for the RTX 4070 to compete with the RX 7800 XT?

Essentials

  • Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070, a competitor to AMD’s Radeon RX 7800 XT, will soon receive a price cut across all models and models.
  • Currently, only Gigabyte and Zotac are offering discounts on the RTX 4070, while other brands are selling it at its advertised price.
  • Even if the price could be cut, the RTX 4070 will still be $50 more expensive than the RX 7800 XT, making it a tough sell for gamers looking for raw gaming.

Nvidia has been feeling the heat in the key mid-range segment following the launch of the Radeon RX 7800 XT, and the company seems to be taking action. According to a new report, the GeForce RTX 4070, which is a direct competitor to the aforementioned AMD’s GPU, could see a price increase across all models and models. Currently, only a few of the Nvidia group – Gigabyte and Zotac – are offering a discount on the card, while the rest are still selling at the advertised price.

The news comes from the famous YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead, which says that Nvidia will not make a log cutter soon, but many manufacturers can join Gigabyte and Zotac in offering a card at a lower price. While the RTX 4070 has an official MSRP of $600, Gigabyte and Zotac are now offering it for $550. Starting today, the 12GB RTX 4070 models by Gigabyte and Zotac are available at discounted prices at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and other online retailers.

It’s worth noting that the RX 7800 XT is priced at $500, meaning that the RTX 4070 will still command a $50 premium over AMD’s offering, even at its reduced price. Although the Nvidia card offers more power and features such as DLSS 3, it will still be a difficult task for the company to convince people to spend more money for a GPU that is very similar to the RX 7800 XT in terms of raw Gaming performance.

Meanwhile, staying with the GPU news, the MLID video also refutes the latest rumors about the so-called RX 7600 XT 12GB. According to one of the sources mentioned in the video, it is “GPU does not exist,” and it is probably another example of AMD planting fake news to discredit Nvidia. Two other sources cited by the report also denied any information about the 7600 XT, and one of them said that “if there is, I have not heard of it, and I am far from it.”
